One Stabbed and One Shot

                                                     One Stabbed and One Shot

Wow! America has experienced a few “hamas” moments over the last several days. First, there was the senseless stabbing of a young girl on the subway. Now, we hear of the tragic shooting of Charlie Kirk. The Hebrew word ḥāmās means violence, wrong, injustice, or oppression (see Strong’s Concordance). What we have witnessed in these events is nothing less than pure evil.
And if we step back just one week further, we recall the shooting at the Catholic school that claimed the lives of precious little children. That act was carried out by a deranged transgender individual with a darkened heart.
I hate what we are witnessing in America. And yes—it is okay to hate what God hates. Scripture says that God hates “hands that shed innocent blood” (Proverbs 6:17). I want to remain in agreement with Him. The Bible also declares, “The LORD examines the righteous, but the wicked, those who love violence, he hates with a passion” (Psalm 11:5).
So, what is wrong with America? Dr. Adrian Rogers once said, “Mankind has one problem—SIN.” The word sin in Scripture means “to miss the mark, failure, or error.” That is America’s real problem, and that is why we must continue to share the Gospel—the Good News of Jesus Christ—with lost people.
We now live in an age where many believe that those who disagree with them should die. This is no longer a civilized society. Instead, we see almost daily:
•Senseless killings
•Riots in support of illegal activity
•Sanctuary cities that protect lawlessness
•Political corruption and deep divisions
What is the answer? Again, as Adrian Rogers said, “The Bible has only one hero—JESUS!” He alone is the answer. Our calling is to win the heart and soul of America back to Jesus Christ.
It isn’t Christians who are committing violence against those on the left. No, it is the radical left who are targeting Christians and anyone who dares to disagree with them. Charlie Kirk is dead because someone believed a bullet could speak louder than a debate. How tragically ironic that those who despise guns would choose to use one to silence someone they opposed.
My heart is heavy for America today. My prayers go out to Charlie Kirk’s wife and young children. My tears flow for the young girl killed by a deranged attacker. I grieve that our nation has lost a true patriot who loved America and saw her potential. Turning Point USA has lost a bold leader.
Where do we go from here? I want to choose my words carefully, yet speak clearly:
1.Justice must be restored. We need to reinstate the death penalty for those who deliberately plan and carry out mass shootings. Justice should not be reduced to plea bargains. Those guilty of such crimes must face trial, be held accountable, and receive a just sentence.
2.We must protect our children. Parents must think carefully before sending their children to institutions that teach anti-Americanism. Too often, young people leave homes that instilled values only to be indoctrinated with Marxist ideologies that destroy faith, freedom, and family.
3.The church must not remain silent. Evil advances when God’s people remain quiet. We must speak up with courage and conviction. We must tell our communities, our political leaders, and our world that they need Jesus Christ. He alone is the solution to the brokenness and sin that plague our nation.
My heart cries out for revival. America’s only hope is Jesus Christ.
All because of Jesus Christ,
Pastor Kim
